I am an Assistant Professor of Strategy at the Melbourne Business School, University of Melbourne in Australia. I completed my Ph.D. in Strategic Management & Entrepreneurship at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland.
My research interest is to investigate demand-side factors’ influence on ecosystem evolution and how firms adapt to the changes within and outside the ecosystem by adjusting their scope of activities. I am particularly interested in examining the heterogeneity in firms’ responsive actions to regulatory and technological environment changes and the role of their pre-existing resources and capabilities in navigating the shocks. In the context of the medical diagnostic imaging industry, my dissertation studies the role of firms’ vertical structure and how it helps weather a demand shock, how and why firms change their horizontal structure in the form of product diversification in reaction to the industry modularization, and the role of user institution as an origin of technical standard setting. I rely on various methodologies for the analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data in search for the best explanation at play.
